Carbon Monoxide Testing

Why detect for carbon monoxide? According to the Center for Disease Control, every year over 2,500 Americans die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Winter is the time of year when the number of cases of carbon monoxide poisoning goes up. Every day we read about another family that has been overcome by carbon monoxide, one of the most deadly toxins on the planet.

Every year, as many as 40,000 people seek medical attention in the United States as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon Monoxide (“CO”) poisoning is believed to be responsible for more than half of the poisoning deaths worldwide. Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, colorless toxic gas.

Because it is impossible to see, taste, or smell the fumes can harm you before you are aware it is in your home. CO is produced by home fuel-burning appliances such as gas furnaces, ranges, water heaters, and room heaters. The initial symptoms of CO poisoning are similar to the flu but without a fever. They include:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Be safe! Call us to schedule a carbon monoxide test. We use top of the line carbon monoxide detectors that will print out a receipt that verifies the amount of CO, if any, that is in your home. If you have any questions concerning services or prices, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our friendly technicians will help find the best solutions for you.

Whole House Humidifier

Do you ever wake up with a sore throat? Is your skin dry and itchy? Do you have aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms? Are you sick of chipping paint and splitting wood floors? If this sounds all too familiar, consider having a whole house humidifier installed.

Turning up the thermostat in the winter will keep you warm, but unfortunately, doesn’t increase the humidity in your home. Daily activities such as showering, cooking, and doing laundry doesn’t produce enough moisture to keep your home’s air from being too dry. Medical studies have shown that viruses thrive in low humidity, which makes for an environment that allows people to be more susceptible to infections.

A whole house humidifier will deliver the perfect amount of moisture to your air, making you feel more comfortable at lower thermostat settings. The EPA states that you can save up to 4% on your heating bill for every degree you lower your thermostat!

How it works

Preferred Heating & Air, Inc.A whole house humidifier is installed directly to your heating and cooling system. Humidity is introduced into your home’s air in the form of water vapor. Water is supplied to the distribution tray, allowing it to flow evenly across a water panel. The result is humidified air that is being distributed throughout your home through your duct work.

Whole house humidifier vs. portable humidifiers

Too much humidity can be as much of a problem as too little humidity. Unlike portable humidifiers, a whole house humidifier continually monitors the humidity in your home, and then works to deliver the right amount of moisture throughout your entire house.

A whole house humidifier doesn’t require the daily cleaning and disinfecting that many portable units require. While a portable humidifier might satisfy one room, what about the rest of the house? You would need to purchase several units for each room, area, or level of your home. Portable units often require frequent cleaning and maintenance. A whole house humidifier requires little maintenance.

You only need to replace the water panel every 6 months to a year, and there is no standing water and no buckets to clean or empty! Being installed directly to your heating and cooling system it is out of sight and away from living spaces, working silently and automatically.

We have made many homes more comfortable with a whole house humidifier. If you and your family are tired of dryness and symptoms associated with low humidity contact us for more information.

Whole House Air Cleaners

Preferred Heating & Air, Inc.Air pollution is a serious problem, especially inside your home! The EPA has named indoor air pollution as one of the top 5 environmental risks to public health.

The EPA also reports that indoor air can be up to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air! Don’t just treat the problem, remove it!

Whole house air cleaners make your environment as clean as possible by removing particulates from your air, allowing you to breathe healthier. Having an air cleaner installed by Preferred Heating and Air can help rid your home of dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, pollen, bacteria, viruses, smoke, and more!

How it works

A whole house air cleaner is installed as part of your home’s heating and cooling systems, completely out of sight and out of the way! Every time your system runs, the air in your home is filtered through a media filter that removes potentially harmful contaminants from every room of your home.

The result is clean air that is being distributed throughout your entire home through your duct work, making it an overall healthier place to live!

Thermostats

Angelo MauroWhat is the single easiest way to get higher performance from your existing heating and cooling system while lowering your home’s overall energy costs? Simply have a programmable thermostat installed! According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a programmable thermostat can save you up to 20% on energy costs annually.

If you choose to keep your manual thermostat, simply reduce energy costs by adjusting the temperature 5-8 degrees (up in the summer and down in the winter) when you will be away for several hours.

There are several different types of thermostats. To find the best suitable solution for your home call us at (937) 938-7420 and our friendly knowledgeable technicians will be happy to help!
